Coming Home

Today we travel home as Mr and Mrs Aquila. Okay, so my ticket and passport are still under my maiden name but what can you do? The flight from Reykjavik, Iceland to Boston, Massachusetts was really easy. We had no trouble getting the bus to the airport, checking in our three bags, and the 5 hour flight actually went by really quickly. Partly because I watched the movies Adam (definitely recommend) and What Happens in Vegas (a mindless watch) and partly because I like Iceland Air. Oh and as an added bonus we even flew over Portland on our way down to Boston.

When we arrived in Boston we knew we had 4 hours until our next flight so we charged up our electronics, had lunch and tried to look at some of the wedding pictures from our photographer. Then we boarded our plane to Houston. Or so we thought.

Halfway through our flight from Boston to Houston the pilot announced that some weather had developed in Houston. Since this weather was completely unexpected the plane did not have enough fuel on it to allow us to circle until it cleared so we were rerouted to New Orleans for some extra fuel and to wait for the weather to pass. Pros: it was my first time ever to Louisiana (although technically it doesn't count because I didn't leave the plane nor the airport) Cons: we were now wondering whether we were going to make our connection in Houston to San Diego because there was only an hour and a half between flights and we were now arriving 1.5 hours late.

Thankfully the travel gods were on our side. Our connecting flight to San Diego was also delayed by the weather. Our plane arrived at Gate E3, our flight to San Diego left out of Gate E2 and within 15 minutes we were boarded and on our way home. So happy to be back in San Diego we didn't even care that our luggage didn't make the flight.
